In physical security,  we can consider the Biometric system is one of the best technology to implement access control. There are various kind of biometric system like
Fingerprinting scanning.
Hand geometry.

Retinal scanning.
Iris scanning.
Facila scanning.

                                                    Fingerprinting



In all of them, the most widely used is Fingerprinting why because Fingerprininting technology is budget-friendly and it's so common that it makes easy to be implemented. The false positive is also less and the technology is also trusted worthy.
               
 But the problem lies in physical contact as we all are aware due to the pandemic of coronavirus life has become a little bit difficult where we have to maintain social distance to stop spreading of viruses. So using fingerprinting violates the law. If an infected person accessed a fingerprinting scanner to authenticate himself then when the next upcoming person comes in contact with a fingerprinting scanner to perform the same action he will be infected too and the cycle continues.

Recently most of the corporate offices,institutions and medical centers removed fingerprinting biometric systems instead of helping out this preventive measure can increase the gray area where anyone can get in and can perform mischievous activities.




So what are the solutions




                                                           Retinal scanning.



Retin has a nerve about 0.5mm thick to transmit the impulse through the optic nerve to the brain. The scanner will read retina through the pupil during the scanning process. Users have to focus on the light. the template will be generated to match the existing record of the user and it will decide to give access or not.



                                                             Iris scanning



In iris scanning, we consider the various feature to match like ligaments, furrow ridges striations, etc we can include more than 200 variables During the scanning, scanner resales infrared lights while scanning the iris we have to checkmark features to look for after scanning.  After scanning data it will be converted into a grayscale image and forwarded to process and to match from an existing record

                                                        Facial scanning



Facial scanning works by picking out unique characteristics of human face like Size of eyes, Distance between the eyes, location of nose and size of the chin, etc.
During the processing of the image, the scanner will remove unwanted data from images such as hair background images and head etc so that it can focus on the face image.

                                             3D facial recognization system



Considering the present scenario we must not only remove the fingerprinting system but also replace them with other no contactable control measures where we can maintain physical distance and still maintain a Biometric system. Technology is out in the market which helps the monitoring bodies in authenticating employes without need to remove the mask.

The 3D facial recognization system can do dynamic analysis with 98% accuracy and check the body temperature this minimizes the spreading of infection there is a good scope of these technologies which help to reduce close contact with biometric machines and can enforce control personal access in workplaces.
